Several AAKO ingredients are now NATRUE-certified
AAKO has obtained NATRUE certification for several ingredients in its portfolio. These ingredients are widely used in sun care and cosmetic formulations. With this certification, formulators working with natural cosmetic standards now have more options when developing NATRUE-certified products.
The certified ingredients include Aako PHST (Polyhydroxystearic Acid), AakoSun TiO₂ SL (Titanium Dioxide, Silica), AakoSun ZnO Zeta (Zinc Oxide) and AakoEmu Super MB (Potassium Cetyl Phosphate).
Together, these ingredients support formulators working on mineral sun care and other cosmetic applications that aim to meet recognized natural standards.
Supporting mineral sun care formulations
Mineral UV filters such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide play an important role in sun protection products, especially in formulations designed for sensitive skin or natural positioning. Achieving stable formulations with these filters, however, requires the right supporting ingredients.
The newly NATRUE-certified ingredients in the AAKO portfolio address several of these formulation needs.
AakoSun TiO₂ SL and AakoSun ZnO Zeta provide mineral UV protection and are widely used in sun care formulations, contributing to broad spectrum UV protection. Both are non-nano grades, which are commonly used in formulations aligned with natural cosmetic standards.
To ensure that mineral filters disperse well and remain stable in a formulation, dispersing agents are essential. Aako PHST supports the even distribution of mineral particles in oil-based systems. This helps improve stability and consistency in formulations such as sunscreens and mineral make-up.
In emulsified systems, stability is equally important. AakoEmu Super MB, based on Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, acts as an emulsifier that helps stabilize formulations containing mineral UV filters.
