General description

Stearic acid polyglycol ester in an alkyl ether sulfate

Genapol TSM is used as an opacifying and pearlescent agent in cosmetic washing and cleansing preparations. The intensity of the cloud producing and silk lustre effect varies according to the concentration used, which is normally in the range 2 % - 7 % calculated on the basis of the finished product.
Preparations formulated from Genamin TSM present a very good silk lustre effect. The optical effect can be enhanced by coloration with suitable colorants.

Applications

Compatibility
Genapol TSM is compatible with anionic, nonionic and amphoteric surfactants commonly used in cosmetics. It has no adverse effect on the active ingredients commonly used in cosmetic preparations.

Suitability for perfuming
Having a faint intrinsic odour only, preparations formulated from Genapol TSM are highly suitable for perfuming.
When selecting the perfume oils one should be aware of the fact, that many perfume oil compositions alter the solubility of the silk lustring substance and thus may influence the effect or stability of the end product.

Solubility
The silk lustre agent contained in Genapol TSM is in-soluble in water. It is soluble in paraffin oils, fatty alcohols, fatty acids and their mixtures when heated.

Thermal stability
The thermal stability of preparations formulated from Genapol TSM is assured over a wide range - up to 40 °C depending on the concentration.
