PPWR: what customers can expect from AAKO

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, PPWR, entered into force on February 11, 2025. Most obligations will apply from August 12, 2026. Certain requirements have later application dates. The rules apply to packaging and packaging waste, not to the product itself.

Customers are increasingly asking about the impact of the PPWR and the availability of packaging information. This statement explains our approach and what you can expect from AAKO.

AAKO supports the objectives of the PPWR to reduce packaging waste and promote circularity. We are identifying the relevant packaging used across our portfolio, requesting technical data from suppliers, and assessing which information and declarations are required for each packaging type. This includes material data, recyclability information, and conformity documentation.

Implementing the PPWR requires coordination across the entire supply chain. At the same time, not all further European guidance is available yet. Information and documentation for certain types of packaging may therefore become available at a later stage. We appreciate your understanding.

Information received must first be reviewed, matched to the relevant packaging, and processed. AAKO only provides information that can be sufficiently substantiated. When information is still missing, we clearly explain what is available and what will follow.
