AAKO 75 years
On the 1st of October, AAKO celebrated its 75th birthday. In 1945 we founded our business as the ‘Algemeene Amerikaansche Kleurstoffen Onderneming’ (hence: AAKO), Dutch for ‘General American Dyestuff Company’.
Every company starts with an idea and starts small. AAKO started with the idea to import dye stuff chemicals from the United States for the Dutch textile industry. The founders saw an opportunity and seized it. During the years the textile industry disappeared from The Netherlands, but AAKO stayed. AAKO has been loyal, throughout the years, to its existing partners and always found new opportunities, new suppliers and new customers. We are still doing that, and we are proud of that.
We celebrated our birthday in a way we did not imagine when we started planning for our celebrations: remotely. We shared (real) champagne and (real) snacks via a screen. Although all of us are longing for more face to face contact, we are happy we had the opportunity to celebrate together
