A special day at the zoo with De Zonnebloem

At AAKO, we supply high-quality chemicals worldwide. In our work we think along with our customers, listen carefully, and always strive to find the best solutions. That same care and attention is something we also want to bring to our local community by connecting with people close to home.

Through the Matchbeurs Leusden, we partnered with De Zonnebloem Leusden, a Dutch foundation that organizes activities for elderly people with disabilities and limited mobility. Together we arranged a trip to the zoo in Amersfoort (DierenPark Amersfoort), where every AAKO employee was paired with a guest from De Zonnebloem.

The afternoon began with a walk through the zoo, where young and old enjoyed the animals and engaged in warm conversations. Afterwards, there was time for coffee and cake – the perfect moment to share even more stories. Thanks to Midland Tours, who took care of our transport to and from the zoo with great attention and punctuality, everyone was able to relax and enjoy the day. Compliments to them for their excellent service!

Despite the rain, the atmosphere could not have been brighter: smiling faces everywhere. The guests were incredibly grateful and positive about the care and attention they received. Our colleagues gladly lent a hand, whether it was pushing wheelchairs, holding umbrellas, or even walking someone home at the end of the day. These small acts led to meaningful conversations and memorable encounters across generations.

We are truly proud and grateful that we at AAKO were able to contribute to this special experience. Together we showed that even the smallest gestures can make a big difference in someone’s life.
