In current time there has been increasing emphasis on mild surfactants and additives to improve the performance of shampoos or shower gels. However, some of these sophisticated surfactant mixtures are very difficult to thicken. For example, the frequent use of Silicone derivatives in rinse off formulations (e.g. 2-in-1 conditioning shampoos) presents for-mulating challenge in terms of the methods and ingredients employed to build viscosity.

Genapol DAT is an especially designed associative thickener for mild surfactants used in Personal Care. In hair care formulations, it contributes excellently to hair conditioning. Genapol DAT is an easy-to-use liquid and suitable for cold process. Genapol DAT provides formulators with the superior thickening efficiency to create shampoos, body washes, shower gels and liquid soaps.

The 'active component' in Genapol DAT is PEG-150 Polyglyceryl-2 Tristearate, representing an optimized structure-performance. By blending with an emollient, the thickener was further converted into a liquid blend: Genapol DAT (INCI: PEG-150 Polyglyceryl-2 Tristearate and PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glyc-erides) is not just a diluted version - it provides an emollient skin feel and adds conditioning to skin and hair. Data show that Genapol DAT provides superior thickening properties and proves to be significantly more efficient than the market standards such as PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate or PEG-150 Distearate. As an easy-to-use liquid viscosifier concentrate, Genapol DAT works especially well in cold mix systems.
Genapol DAT is an effective thickener for aqueous solutions, but is not soluble in water in all proportions. If mixed with surfactants, the thickener is dissolved and the rheology can be adjusted to the desired viscosity of the final product. Typically, Genapol DAT is added as the last component of the formulation.
