Zinc chloride anhydrous is used in various applications. Some examples of applications are listed below.

Used as/in:
• Electrical: in dry battery electrolyte and in electroplating
• Metal Industry: In soldering fluxes, in fluxes for galvanizing, hot dip tinning and lead coating of steel.
• Water treatment: For corrosion inhibition
• Rubber: in vulcanization accelerators
• Dyestuffs and pigments: as dehydrating and condensing agent in organic syntheses
• Chemical/Pharmaceutical: As catalyst and ingredient of catalyst systems for dehydration and condensation. As a stabilizing agent for diazonium compounds, in manufacture of activated carbon, fungicides, in zinc stearate, in antiseptics and deodorants.
• Textiles: as a mordant, for weighing, sizing, as a resist for mercerizing for heat resistant finishing
• Man-made fibers: in acrylonitrile fibers, in vulcanized fibres
• Glue and gelatin: as a preservative for natural glues
• Paper: in parchment manufacture
• Printing: in blueprint papers, for etching lithographic plates
